About Us

My grandmother was an expert, self-taught seamstress.  She was capable of looking at a store bought item and re-creating it without a pattern.  I remember many times standing on her footstool as she pinned and measured me for countless pieces of clothing.  During that time, she taught me to respect and love all things related to the needlearts which has continued beyond her years.

At age eleven, my grandmother took me to a very small, but well-stocked embroidery store.  It was there that she bought me my first, stamped cross-stitch kit.  I still look at the completed cross-stitched Irish Blessing that hangs at my parent's home for all to see.  After that, I was able to advance on my own through grade school and college from Aida and perforated paper to 40 count linen and silk gauze.  I have been honored to take classes with designers such as Eileen Bennett, The Essamplaire, Sharon Cohen, Shepherd's Bush, Jean Hilton, Debbie Novak, Marcia Brown (finisher), and many others to perfect my ability as a needleworker.

I immersed myself in all kinds of needlework from cross-stitch to needlepoint to ribbon embroidery and experimented with crochet, knitting, and beading.  As my love for needlework grew, so did my desire for STASH.  To support my favorite habit, I mean hobby, I started working at a local needlework shop.  Today, that local needlework shop has become the most extensive brick and mortar shop in the country in my opinion.  I was fortunate to have worked over twelve years in the shop and was trained extensively on inventory, pricing, customer service, and retail management.  From the love of my hobby and the wealth of experience I have obtained, I am now here to share with you.

I am proud to also have a tremendous amount of experience in the insurance industry, with a heavy concentration on customer service.  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Sociology/Criminology.

I look forward to spending time with you and making your shopping with us a delight!  If there is anything I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to contact me at denise@theStitchWeb.com.  Enjoy!
